Project Life Week #20…

Here we are at week 20…I actually remembered to take a few pictures this week which makes it much easier to get a layout together!

an old carry on tag as the date card…

DSCF2203

I love this view of a math word problem…I TOTALLY understand…

DSCF2204

This is a view of my spot at McDonald’s when I go there to plug my computer in and do some casenotes…

DSCF2205

A texted picture of Kenz getting her first stripe for her Karate Belt…She said that she got it for having good balance…I love that Jeri can send me pictures of the kids even though I am five hours away…

DSCF2209

I have been driving a lot in the country where there are millions of hay bales right now…if the farmers are not making the bales they are prepping the fields to make the bales or they are moving down the road transporting the bales…I think it is beautiful!

DSCF2210

Friday afternoon Jared and I met halfway between where we live to have lunch and spend some time together…

DSCF2179

me just driving…because that is ALL I DO EVER!

DSCF2181

I picked up this I GEEK postcard from the library and put what I GEEK…I totally GEEK quality time…it is the mail way I feel love…

DSCF2187

We had lunch at Texas Roadhouse…ROLLS…YUUUUUMMMMMMMmm!!!!

DSCF2194

there wasn’t much to do in the town we met so we thought it would be fun to see what the HUMONGOUS Bass Pro Shop had to offer in the way of entertainment…

DSCF2192

Shooting...Shooting is what the Bass Pro Shop has to offer…

DSCF2195

for .50 cents you got 25 shots…Here Jared was attempting to shoot a panther (I think)…

DSCF2196

he also shot a snake and an ostrich…

DSCF2197

having never shot anything before, I FEEL I was a pretty quick learner…and man you really have to get your face down and line up that shot or your are going to be NO WHERE CLOSE to the target! It was fun…to shoot as well as to hang out with my best friend…sometimes you just have to make time to see your friends because emotionally you need that in your life no matter how close or far they live away…

DSCF2200

they also have a lot of novelty gifts and things…I bought a corn on the cob that you stick the microwave and it just pops off the cob…it was interesting…I definitely burned it, and not all the popcorn popped off the cob…

DSCF2198

and well this one speaks for itself…

Get Your Craft-On: Magnetic Boards…

I saw these fun accordions and decided to merge them with with a project I had started the day before…

Here is the end result…

This project had a lot of different inspirations…I first found these free journal card dowloads

projectlife

and had them printed at PaperCoterie on their photo posters:

“Surprise the ones you love with personalized wall art that shows how much you care. Just upload their favorite photo, or one with you together, to make a long-lasting gift. These durable, breathable fabric posters are made with a special adhesive so they will stick and re-stick to virtually any surface. Plus they won't crumple, tear, or fade. Make every day special with personalized posters.”

I bought them when they were free and just had to pay shipping. Paper Coterie regularly has coupon codes…I find most of mine at Hip2Save…so for four posters I paid a total of 18 dollars in shipping…

I then went to the Home Depot and purchased some pre-cut sheets of metal…They did not have 13x20 which is the size of the posters so I purchased the 12x18 and folded the excess over the edges…The metal sheets were a total of 20 dollars…

AAAACxCHQr4AAAAAAcBx7gI then found the gold and peeling flock of birds (I don’t have a before picture) at a church yard sale for .50 cents…and put two light coats of flat gray paint on them…spray paint 2.50

Then I followed this tutorial on how to make the accordion circles…you can make two 6 inch circles out of one sheet of 12x12 paper (cut into 4 3inch strips) but it takes 2 full pages of 12x12 paper to make a 12 inch one (cut into four 6 inch strips)…once you have folded a couple you get in a groove and they don’t take very long…I used my bone folder to make the creases crisp, I also think that the bone folder keeps your fingers from getting tired…you could also substitute the bone folder with a ruler…

using the hot glue gun I glued the edges of the accordion pieces together and made the circle…this for me was the HARDEST PART, I think there is some kind of trick that I don’t understand but I just kept trying unitl it magically became the circle and then I squirted a whole bunch of hot glue into the center, and squeezed until it was dry…

HY-GlueGun

here is a picture of the back of a finished circle I put a middle piece on the back because I hot glued the circles to the wall and this gave me a good surface to put the hot glue…DSCF2156

I used my revolution

some sticky magnetic sheets and the Clementine cardstock from Project Life…

great-mall-stores-art-and-crafts

to make the alphabet and number magnets…

DSCF2175

I used 3m picture Velcro things (my favorite EVER, they don’t damage the wall and can hold quite a bit of weight) to hold up the magnetic boards (click picture for source)…in total these were 9 dollars, a bit expensive but, to me, the ease and no nail holes make it worth it…

image372_lg (1)

using the width of the level to keep an equal distance between the boards…Then I used hot glue to add the birds and circles…

BEFORE…

DSCF2152

AFTER…

DSCF2176

all told this project cost 50 dollars…less than it would have cost to get the posters themselves from Paper Coterie at full cost ($74 including shipping)…I already had the 12x12 cardstock, the magnetic sheets, the hot glue gun, and the revolution…

I think it is pretty good…there are things I’d like to tweak…and I would have liked it to have been center on that wall but we have a corner cabinet…Those circles were very easy to make and have such a great impact!

what do you think?

As Caught up as I’m Gonna get…

Here are the past couple of weeks…I decided not to do last week because I didn’t take any pictures and really nothing happened…Work has been wearing me out a bit so it is going to be low on words and HIGH on pictures…

DSCF2075

I was feeling really cute one day so I took a bunch of pictures of my new bangs I had cut five minutes before I left for work that morning…

DSCF2076

I took an impromptu road trip weekend to Nashville TN…I used a lot of 8x8 and 6x6 pages for the weekend inserts…

In an attempt to not hit a Semi I ripped my side mirror off when I hit an orange barrel…it was totally my fault…I did not notice that the two lanes was becoming ONE!

Cousin Tina graduated from College…I did not go because I was in Nashville…

DSCF2108DSCF2109DSCF2110

and of course you have to add something that makes you laugh…

GENTLEMAN NINJAS!!!!

I hope to be back on track a bit on blogging in the near future…I am just adjusting to having a full case load at work and having to work late because one of my clients can’t meet during the day…

I have been missing seeing everyone’s layouts at PL Tuesday…
